Shea Weber

Montreal Canadiens

“Aaron improved my first few steps. He helped me become an overall more efficient and faster skater with and without the puck.”

Tyler Myers

Vancouver Canucks

“In the short period of time that I worked with Aaron I was able to improve the power in my stride in a way I had never thought. He showed me with every stride. There are certain parts of the blade that create a larger push that can generate more speed. I learned things I have never seen before. “

Kyle Turris

Nashville Predators

“Aaron pointed out areas in my stride to work on that would make it more powerful. I’m faster and feel stronger on my edges after working with him.”

“The thing I found most interesting about working with Aaron in my time spent with the Kelowna Rockets was how he really understood today’s game. He doesn’t teach you like someone from a hockey school would, not out of a book. He uses game like situations from the way the game is played today compared to 10 years ago and applies them into the drills he will teach you on the ice. He will challenge you with every drill to get the best out of you. This makes for a more enjoyable time, which for most players power skating is not something we all love to do. Aaron is a great guy that’s professional in all his work and really cares about his clients. There is a reason you will see some of the biggest names in the NHL on his list of guys he trains every summer.”

Mitchell Wheaton

Former Kelowna Rockets

“I worked with Aaron a few times on the ice and on the skatemill. We worked on a lot of things, from the basic fundamentals to the tiny little fancy details that can make a worlds difference. Aaron helped me a lot with my transition game which is a huge part of being a defenceman. Along with my transition game, we worked on my ability to create speed coming out of a turn or from a dead stop. Learning to become more powerful and efficient is something every player needs. I learned a lot from working with Aaron and am looking forward to working with him again soon.”

Tyson Jost

Colorado Avalanche

“I trained with Aaron throughout my Midget season and into the spring. We worked on refining my forward skating technique with and without the puck. Aaron was able to pick apart my stride and overall movements and correct them immediately. I have never worked with another coach that was able to correct this issue as quickly as he was able to. Aaron made me a more efficient and faster skater and I liked how he mixed a lot of stickhandling and shooting drills in the sessions.”

Huss Breithaupt

Player, Whitehorse, Yukon

“I learned so much in one week with AK hockey. I had the skatemill in morning for an hour and then on the ice at noon. The two sessions were really helpful. What I learned at the skatemill I could put into practice on the ice later that day. The coaches were all really helpful and had videos and pictures to help tell me what I should work on. I want to go back next year for sure.”

Chad Biafore

Parent – Kelowna, BC

“My twin boys love coming to the Treadmill, not only do they have fun but I see a noticeable difference in their skating ability the next on ice session. I can’t tell you why, but it’s noticeable that their more stable on their edges and have a stronger more powerful push in their stride.

Vince Murray

Parent – Kelowna, BC

“I want to thank you and your coaching staff for having my son Jameson (born 1999) as part of your AKHockey Train & Gain Apprentice Program this summer. He was determined this season to take his game to the next level and set some pretty high goals that required him to focus more on his training over the summer (both on and off ice). Your program was a great fit. Being on the ice almost every day with your groups combined with the skatemill and gym access improved his skating, strength and confidence (helping out when you were privately training some of your NHL Pro players was a bonus for him!).

Jameson went from a Tier 3/2 PeeWee and Bantam player to a KMHA Midget Tier 1 player and earned the opportunity to AP with both the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League as well as the Kamloops Storm of the KIJHL (Jr B) for this season. He had such a strong start to this September that he has been approached by a WHL club about possibly attending their camp next year. Not only did he reach the goals he set for himself this year he is on his way to surpassing them.

Thanks Aaron for including Jameson in your program. We look forward to hearing what you’re planning for next year!”

Sandy Grant

Head Coach – Shaw Meadows Novice 3

“Our Novice 3 team was privileged to welcome Coach Aaron to our 2014/15 developmental program. His ability to touch on fundamental skating skills helped raise the game of all of our kids: both those playing at a high level for their age group and those who required extra attention.

By incorporating our coaching staff into the program, our group was left better prepared to focus on this aspect of our team’s game after our sessions had concluded. The value received to our team as a whole by partnering with AKHockey shines above any other similar program introduced to my groups to date.

For value and results, I highly recommend AKHockey and their teachings to any minor hockey coaches seeking to take all of their player’s skating abilities to the next level.”

Parent – Prince Rupert, BC

“We booked our son for 3 different classes a day for 5 days, 2 on ice and 1 on the skatemill. He had a blast! Aaron and his staff did a great job and are very professional. My son couldn’t say enough about AK Hockey, he already wanted to book for the next summer session. Tyler’s skating has greatly improved, even his coaches noticed a big difference in his abilities when we started the new hockey season.

Lorne Plemel

Parent – Kelowna, BC

“Our children (girl 11 and boy 13) had never experienced anything like the skatemill before their first session this December. The Instructor put them at ease and was very professional and accurate in his explanation and demonstrations. He started at a slow pace and by the end of the first session I could see a big difference in their knee bend and forward stride. By the end of the five sessions they had both significantly improved their stride and acceleration and accuracy and strength in their shots. It showed on the ice during their practices and games. Well done and I would recommend this training for any hockey or ringette player who wants to improve the skating and shooting skills.

Jeanie Walker

Grandparent – Kelowna, BC

“As a grandparent we have seen an incredible improvement not only in our grandson’s ability, faster skating, better edges, better stick handling and shooting and the biggest change is the confidence this all has given him. We are so pleased and will continue to support our grandson in attending AK Hockey both on the skatemill as well as on the ice.

Kim Poley

Parent – Saskatoon, SK

“Our son has skated with many different organizations and skating instructors. I have watched him in groups where the instructor never once interacts or tells him what he can do to improve. What sets Aaron apart is that he actually cares about each child on the ice. My son is given individual attention and constant feedback about what he needs to do to improve.

Treena Pastro

Parent – Kelowna, BC

“Aaron has worked with our son for the past four years. Over that time his skating and puck handling skills have improved tremendously allowing him to make top tier teams even as a first year. Aaron is extremely knowledgeable, great with players of all ages and definitely gets positive results. Not only can he explain techniques and correct player deficiencies, Aaron is a tremendous skater himself and can show players how to skate correctly. Would not hesitate to recommend AK Hockey to any players who want to improve their skating and puck handling.

Deana Stankoven

Parent – Kamloops, BC

“Our son has had a real passion for hockey from the time he first started skating. Over the years we have trained on the ice as well as the treadmill with Aaron. The power skating has been instrumental in giving our son a solid skating foundation allowing him to play at a high level. Great edge techniques as well as agility, maneuverability and balance training has helped him immensely. Aaron’s attention to detail while training on the treadmill is extraordinary. His enthusiasm allows him to motivate and challenge the students in new skating techniques. If you want to have success as a player you must be a great skater Aaron has made a huge impact on players of all ages and that is why I’m extremely proud to have our son train at AK Hockey.

Marco Oliverio

Parent – Calgary, AB

“Finally a skating camp that was truley that. With so many “experts” out there I’ve seen some decent camps and most that are in my mind just money grabs. AK Hockey was by far the best skating program I’ve seen to date. My boy Ben absolutely loved it and although it was only a week of instruction you could see big improvements in his skating technique. The instruction from Aaron was top notch and I would recommend him to anyone out there. Aaron understands the little things which most instructors overlook or just don’t know how to teach. Also AK’s instructors are well educated on what to look for when the players are performing the drills. The instructors don’t just stand there and watch, they actually stop and make corrections and communicate with the players during the drill. AK Hockey was a great choice and my boy was lucky to have experienced what Aaron and his crew offer and we’ll definitely be back next year.

Jack Flynn

Parent – Nashville, TN

“Thank you for all your help Aaron. Your work was truly instrumental with Aidan’s recent and timely improvement. He committed to UAH Hockey

Brent Pearson

Peewee Development Coach, Steamboat Springs Stampede Hockey, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, USA

“Aaron offered a fresh look at ‘Hockey Skating’ rather than the common power skating drills. Each one of our kids in the program were able to benefit from the unique approach to skating efficiently and acceleration. The techniques were not something that you would see every day!

Lawren Wowk

PVP Hockey Operations – Cold Lake Minor Hockey

“Big shout out to AKHockey. AWESOME! This was our second year of attendance and we can’t wait until next year. Kelowna is great to visit regardless your passion. AKHockey makes Kelowna our chosen summer destination.

Aaron and his on ice instructors are a top notch group focusing on the basic fundamentals of skating and puck control. There is a 10 player to 7 instructor ratio. Consistent feedback. Excellent progression and regression. I cannot say enough of this program: from the skates up. Thank you AKHockey. Cheers”

Krisha Dodds

Parent – Fort St John, BC

“My son is just finishing the Atoms Defence/Forward Camp (with skatemill sessions) and I can’t speak highly enough of the instruction and coaching he received on and off ice, I wish we hadn’t wasted our time or money on other camps the past couple years – he has learnt more in 4 days than I can even say! Great job guys!!

Patrik Augusta

Assistant Coach Bílí Tygři Liberec

“I hired Aaron to come to Czech Republic to work with for our Hockey Academy Dukla Jihlava for 3 seasons, while I worked as Academy Head Coach. He shared his curriculum and ran team practices with our coaches. The players and coaches loved him not only on the ice but also off the ice. He seems to really love what he does and is best I’ve seen so far.

I also hired Aaron to work with my pro team last season when I was a head coach of BK Mlada Boleslav. He worked for us for a week. He ran specific practices separately for forwards and defencemen. We worked on transitions and first few steps. He made our team faster and left us behind some great drills for myself and coaches to continue to work on with our players to make and keep them faster. He had a great relationship with players and coaches. Some of the players went to visit him to Canada to individually work on their speed.
